Alison Cotton's 2022 album 'The Portrait You Painted of Me' - her first for Rocket Recordings - eerily coalesces the viola, the harmonium, and the human voice, to conjure a rich and dark matter of sonic ambiance. More often than not, her songs possess a near cinematic quality, evoking quiet imagery which reimagines her North East England influences. Once more, Alison recorded at home and counted on her partner Mark Nicholas' beautiful production. The Guardian called the record 'a lost folk horror soundtrack glinting in the sunshine’.
