Ale Hop
Ale Hop (Alejandra Cárdenas) is a Peruvian-born artist who began her career in Lima's underground music scene in the 2000s. Her live performances merge the physical intensity of sound with raw affective states. She builds layers of sound by maneuvering an intricate repertoire of electric guitar techniques to create music of deep intensity. On this occasion, she will present material from her forthcoming album, for 2025, which takes the audience on a trajectory through themes of historical trauma and personal struggle, featuring spoken word, layers of electric guitar, electronic textures, and field recordings. Cárdenas’s multifaceted work spans various formats, including live shows, multimedia projects, film, and research on sound and technology. In the past years, she has embarked on several collaborative projects, such as "Agua Dulce" with percussionist Laura Robles, "Near and Remote Activation Practices" with sound artist Tatiana Heuman, and "Mapambazuko," an upcoming album with Congolese guitarist Titi Bakorta.
Unfortunately, the scheduled collaboration between Ale Hop and Titi Bakorta can't take place, as Titi Bakorta didn't receive his visa to travel to the festival.
