afromerm with YUIS
Alex Rita presents Calm Roots
afromerm is the solo project of composer, sound artist, and poet Cecilia Morgan. Drawing from contemporary, jazz, and cinematic soundscapes, the project meshes electronic elements with live instrumentation, plus vocal and poetic disciplines to further plunge us into her world. Amidst all these factors, Juniper, her self-built motion reactive instrument takes center stage. For her Le Guess Who? performance, Morgan is inviting another presence; YUIS, a London-based flautist and producer whose work spans jazz, reggae, and experimental music. He is a member of Levitation Orchestra and has also performed with artists such as Eddie Chacon, John Carroll Kirby, and Liam Bailey. His flute playing is featured on tracks by Joe Armon-Jones, Maxwell Owin, Marysia Osu, Chimniyo, Sleepy Time Ghost, Eriksson Kaner and Daddy Freddy.
