Lebanese producer and hybrid DJ Liliane Chlela makes purposeful music; be it as a soundtrack to film and dance or to make listeners reflect through a cutting-edge sonic experience. Her sound - self-described as ‘making noise with machines’ - is distinctively hers only. On her second album, 2021’s ‘Safala’, relentless and heavy dark electronic beats evoke personal and political memories - for instance, making use of protest sounds from Lebanon’s recent history.
