Hizbut Jámm

Curated by DARKSIDE
Hizbut Jámm, the band led by guitarist and composer Raphael Rogiński, came together in a different, pre-pandemic world. Ironically, even back then the group, formed by musicians deriving from distinct places and genres (vocalist and guitarist Mamadou Ba, kora player Noums Dembele, and drummer and percussionist Paweł Szpura), were drawn together by an aspiration for amity and coexistence. The band’s name, after all, translates into ‘Brotherhood For Peace’. Their first, self-titled album, has strokes of African music, but the group prefers to remain global, united in their quest to connect through music, with ‘hope, trance, and happiness’ as guiding lights.
