Aziza Brahim
Aziza Brahim’s music is a reflection of her and her people's legacy. It is full of sorrow, and, yet, hope dashes through. Although Brahim had led a traveled existence - having studied in Cuba and currently living exiled in Spain - the Sahrawi singer and actress' youth, spent in the refugee camps lining the frontier between Algeria and Western Sahara, is found in every note sung. Still, her outlook is global, and increasingly so. 'Sahari', her fifth record, was released by Glitterbeat Records in 2019. Songlines called it 'achingly heartfelt'.
